modem suddenly gets no dial tone message

I am using XP Pro, I can fax without any problems with a fresh install XP and
all the programs i normally but after a few days I start to get the no dial
tone message when trying to fax and I havent installed anything, I can
reinstall using a back up of the system I made when the fax was working right
but after a few days i get the message again, its starting to get annoying, I
havent installed anything new, anyone have any suggestions

Hi,

Have you tried instead reinstalling or updating the modem drivers with a set
from the manufacturer? Do not rely on those supplied by WinXP or Windows
Update.
