basically, when it gets to "advanced pixel shader" my system just locks up and i have 2 restart the compter.
i'm using a rare HIS Excalibur radeon8500 64mb 275mhz core/memory
and the following
xp1.6+
Msi K7T266 Pro2 ru
256mb pc2100 ddr
40gig 7200rpm HD
1cdrw+ 1CD rom
agp aparture at 128, cl2 for my ram, fastwrite enble, read syncronousation enable....etc

i can run 3dmark2001 original fine and all, it is only in SE, when it gets to "adv picel shader" the system crashes. y is that? could it be my driver or just a faulty card?
im using the HIS R8500 driver..4.13.9016.

Maybe turn off fastwrites. I remember reading somewhere here that it causes incompatibilities with 3D Mark or something like that. Hopefully someone else will be able to correct my reply.

Fastwrites causes problems sometimes with 3DMark2001 and SE, as well as other 3D games.

The latest official driver is the 9021, not sure on the unofficial drivers, since I use XP. Try going to the official driver or beta drivers and see if that helps.

There you go. Maybe try turning off the Fast Writes also. See if that helps. If not, you can also maually set what tests to do so that you could just skip that test.

nope.... still the same problem, it gave me an error msg.
in the "error log" it says --Could not create render target depth-stencil surface - D3DERR_INVALIDCALL--
anyone have any idea about this?

ar.... finally fixed ... turned out it was the driver's fault. even with all the ATI official driver, the problem persists. so i went 2 rage3d and install the "unofficial" driver v4.13.01.9030 (win98se). After that, eveything went smooth, even got an extra 100 points on my 3dmark score..
it's not a very high score , but i'm happy with it. thanx to all of ya's reply, appriciated.

Truform will switch itself on and off automaticly, and needs to be supported by the program inorder to actualy work. Truform is not supported by 3DMark2001SE.
