Hiroshima reference in Animal Crossing??

Just decided to fire up Animal Crossing and have a wander round town
for the first time in a few months. Sable (the sewing porcupine at the
tailor shop) told a sad story about how her parents died when she was
young and she was forced to bring up her younger sister. I've never
seen her tell this story before, she always just tells you to talk
to her sister instead. Since today is 6th Aug this is obviously a
Hiroshima reference. Anyone else seen this ?? Does it happen
every year or maybe just this year, being the 60th anniversary?

Anyway I found it quite touching
