I'm looking to get a new video card. Newegg.com has the Gainward ti4200 for $199 + shipping. I can get the Leadtek ti4400 for $260 locally and the Gainward ti4400 for $275 locally. Is the extra $60 or so worth the performance improvement over the ti4200? Or should I just get the ti4200?

your comparing tropical oranges to Washington state oranges.

Newegg is almost always cheaper than local so buy the 4400 from newegg...

Check out tomshardware graphics card atricles for performance comparisons and go from there.

I would get the 4400. I don't really have a preference in brands, but the Gainward, if its a golden sample, would probably be my pick. The 4200, especially the 64mb version is the value card whereas the 4400 and the 4600 are high end gaming. Of course you can overclock the 64mb version to 4400 speeds, but you still only have 64mb agp buffer. If you buy the 128mb 4200 version, you will have difficulty overclocking to 4400 speeds. The price differential isn't big so pop for the 4400 if you can. Then overclock it to the 4600 speed. If you cannot afford the 4400, any 4200 will be an excellent pick, better than all cards out there to date.

You're not that stupid, I'm just that smart.
