I finally found an NES Top Loader at a reasonable price after looking
for quite a while. We had our community garage sale today and I walked
around to check out what everyone else had for sale while Laura sold
our junk. I saw a table with some NES games for $1.00 each and then
looked next to them and saw the holy grail of NES collecting, a top
loader NES! They wanted $20 for the NES or $25 for the NES plus 8
games and a cleaning kit. Well, I didn't have any cash on me and since
$25 is high in the garage sale world, I figured I'd let it sit for an
hour or so and see if I could get it cheaper. Now, I know these go for
$50-75 on Ebay but I love a bargain.
Anyway, some time passes and I decide to walk back over. They've
marked the games plus the NES down to $15 for the whole lot, so I grab
it up. I got the NES deck, AC adapter, RF adaptor, dog bone
controller, NES controller, two head cleaners with solution and
attachments, the instruction manual for the NES, an NES storage tray,
and 10 games in their black NES sleeves. The games are Tetris, Dr.
Mario, Caesars Palace, Pinball, Wheel of Fortune, Othello, Casino Kid,
Jeopardy! Junior Edition, Super Mario Bros., and Super Mario Bros. 3.
The lady said the unit belonged to her daughter, which makes sense
based on the game selection. My wife likes the same sort of games as
do a lot of female gamers I have met. Luckily, those are some of my
favorite games as well, and I'd say there's only about 10 or 15 more
games that I'll have to pick up on Ebay. I already had Castlevania and
Back to the Future that I picked up on Ebay a few years back, knowing
I'd eventually get an NES again.
So I got a Top Loader NES, accessories, and 10 great games for $15.
Can anyone beat that? I need to go to more garage sales.

Yeah, I had $5 once and had to make a choice, a top loading nes or a
world championships '90 cart. Of course I got the top loader since it is
the holy grail of NES collecting. Really, a top loading NES is not that
holy. They're fairly common, and now that the Yobo has made its rounds,
they're about half as much as they used to be.

Next time just get a gun and play Russian Roulette by yourself... 'cause
that's the game you're playin' when you walk away from a great deal in
the hopes they will reduce it. You got lucky this time.

Because on a PC the screen is too pixelated and theres nothing like the feel
of the real thing when playing. Add nostalgia.
