This has been infuriating me for a while now.. doesnt' seem to matter which drivers i use, which os i am running or which seetings i change for the gpu i stil a really choppy vertex shader test in 3dmark2001.. the one with all the little men running about shooting each other. it was smooth as you could wish on my old gf2.. but now with the creative gf3ti200 its running like i said.
specs are as follows.. asus a7m266, crucial ddr 2100 running at cas latency 2, xp1800, creative gf3ti200, ibm 120gxp 40gig drive(7200rpm, acoustic management disabled, power saving default).. windows xp, detonator 28.45, windows default dchipset drivers, fast writes currently forced on( or so it says)
this may sound trivial but i hate unsolved mysteries

I upgraded my drivers to 28.32 and manage to cause RTCW to hang every time. I've since uninstalled them and gone back to the 23.18 I had originally. No problems now. In this case, I think it's a good example of hanging back and waiting. I can't see the latest drivers offering much in the way of performance gains, only compatability fixes.

As they say, if it ain't broke, it ain't Microsoft.
