I currently have a Radeon 64DDR VIVO. I'm looking to get a new graphics card this fall when Star Wars galaxies comes out. I wouldn't consider myself a hardcord gamer but I'd like a card that will last a while without a huge price. Do you think prices will drop off around the fall for say a Geforce 4 Ti4600?

I'd think that by the fall and when NV30/R300 come out, the price of a Ti4600 will cost about mmm.... $200-$250. They will be like Ti500, except, they will be a full generation behind. The GF3 Ti500 are DX8 compatible as are the Ti4600, but the next gen cards will be DX9 compliant. You'd be much better off buying a second level NV30/R300 card for around $250. They's perform at least as good as the Ti4600 and more than likely way better (Look at Ti4400 vs. Ti500) and also include some very nice features.

"My firewall tastes like burning"

Funniest thing I've read this month. Gotta love the Simpsons. Thanks for the advice. I have been thinking about the GeForce cards for a while but since I'm more of digital video person the ATI line appealed to me more. BUt that star wars game has the gamer in me peeking out for some real power.

I've heard good things about the graphics on ATi cards. (By the way thanks for the compliment, and yes I still watch the Simpsons... great show. It's there for my daily laugh and with satellite, there's about 10 episodes per day!!) One tip about buying cards, they do go out of date pretty quickly, so you should only buy what you need. For example if you don't need too mcuh power a R8500LE or Ti4200 should be fine. Unless you have loads of money to burn, don't buy cards for their bragging rights, that usually leads you to poor decisions. Also if you think you'll be playing more games or doing some video editing, maybe think of getting a more powerful card if you can afford, it although I'd say a Ti4200/R8500/LE is enough.

Well, since Star Wars Galaxies doesn't come out for awhile, just hold off buying any card soon. This September both nVidia and ATI will be releasing cards that are over 70% faster than what's on the market now. These cards will make any gamer piss their pants on the spot compared to what we got now. :)
