I don't have a lot of space where I live for bigass monitor but I wanted something bigger than a 15".
I was using a Samsung SyncMaster 550s which I bought new about six months ago. There is nothing wrong with it. I am selling it for $50 to a co-worker. I'll be putting together a little Celery box for him tomorrow using the the 550s.
Anyway today I bought another monitor a Samsung SyncMaster 753DF. It has a flat shadow mask CRT with a lot of display controls. It also includes a calibration program for easy display configuration.
Didn't need a driver for it. WinXP was able to read the monitor's signature and load it's Windows driver. Seems to work very well with my Radeon 32MB DDR video card.
Well after I had it all setup and running I decided to take a look at the set up instructions. It had all the typical unpacking instructions, how to install the base, what to use to clean the screen etc.
But get this "It is recommended that your monitor's display faces east." WTF does that mean? Does the earth's magnetic field somehow affect the display?
Out of all the electromagnetic radiation bombarding the monitor from local sources (even from it's own power supply) the earth's magnetic field will somehow have an affect on the display.
I just think it's really odd they suggested having the screen face east.

It's because the monitor is actually a satellite transceiver that broadcasts your thought patterns back to M$ user database.

Well radio signals can be intercepted. I think we should monitor these signals and send bogus information back.

My thought patterns are not that interesting. Ex:
