Hey guys, I just had a few questions ont he Radeon 8500LE 128mb. Currently i got:
AMD Duron 1200
ECS K7S5A Mainboard
256mb Crucial DDR CL2.5
40gig Seagate HDD
64mb Gf2MX400

For my bday, i wanna buy an ATI 8500LE 128mb. It is pretty damn hard to find an 8500LE BBA round in Australia, but what i could do, is order one from the states and give it to one of me relo's in Ohio as shes gonna come down here anyway, thatll take the hassle out of international shipping.

Firstly, what should i do in order to get the card in working order? ie drivers and all?

I am very new to ATI and i want this card primarily, as i like to play games and want em to look decent, but i only play em on 1024/768/32, and around 75fps + is pretty good for me. My CPU i know will be a bottleneck, but i don't think it will matter to me too m uch because I personally I can't really notice much after about 50fps.

I'll get my bro's Athlon 1400 whenever he gets a new cpy, which will be soon? Any Mainboard updates? Ive noticed that a 128mb LE BBA is pretty much on par or just under a conventional 8500, and when overclocked to 290/290+ it is very fast.

DOwn here they have something like a "powercolour" is that any good? Also, what are the best performing Powered by ATI cards for the 128mb 8500LE? At least 250/250 id like em to be? Any places where i can get a BBA one for cheap on the net?

Thanks guys

why don't u get a HighTech Excalibur Radeon 8500 64mb retail speed. it's VERY cheap. i 'm living in austalia as well and as i'm speaking now, this card only cost $385.00 australian !!!! you can pay an extra 30 for the 128mb version, i'm using the 64mb version now, and it's pretty fast, got 8322 in 3dmark 2001 in default benchmark on a xp1.6+, 256ddr ram and MSI k7t266 pro2 Ru. after installing the newest beta driver from rage3d

you can read a review of the card at http://www.tweakers.com.au/articles/graphics/auriga_r8500/page1.asp

the shop that i bought the card from is www.gamedude.com.au, on the site it's listed as Auriga "Radeon8500 64mb.....275mhzcore,memory...etc"
