XP should detect it as a GeForce 4 and even detect which one. XP has built in drivers for those cards, albeit not nearly as good as nvidia's latest dets. Your problem isnt drivers, problems in the motherboard or the card most likely. Try the card in another machine (like yours) to narrow down the problem.
