I just purchased a Chaintech G-force2 MX400/200 64MB PCI card for an older computer with an Intel Pentium 233MMX CPU. I just realized that the card's system requirements calls for an Intel Pentium 4/III/II or Celeron CPU.
Question:
Will this card work or should I unload it?

It will work, but it will suck. In fact, it will suck as bad as an old TNT2. Why? Because the TNT2 maxed out PCI bandwidth, and you can't exceed PCI bandwidth with a PCI card. So it was a pointless investment in futility.

What's the frequency, Kenneth?

Thanks Kenneth.

No, I don't think it was a pointless investment in futility if it solves one problem, which is the sole reason I purchased this card.

I have a StudioWorks 995E monitor. Its max resolution is 1600x1200 @ 80Hz. If memory serves me, with the 8MB Diamond Viper 330 card under Win98SE, I ran this monitor at 1024x768 @ 120Hz. When I switched to WinMe, the Diamond drivers would not work and I'm stuck using the WinMe drivers. WinMe will allow me to set the display for 60Hz or "optimal" which seems to be the same. At any other setting, I get less than a full width display which is not acceptable. So, I'm stuck with a full width display with a noticable flicker (60Hz ??). None of these problems existed under Win98SE with the Diamond drivers. I hope that this card will resolve this issue. Since I rarely run any multimedia stuff (games, DVD's, etc.), performance is not a key issue. A sharp, clear, flicker free display at 120Hz for 2D is all I really want and need.
