I have an Athlon XP 1800, 512mb Crucial, and Epox 8K3A board.

I originally bought (and still have for the time being) a Gainward GF3 Ti200 which I was going to overclock pretty hard. Problem is, I cannot get it to work in my system. Anytime I install any drivers for it, my PC locks on bootup.

I got the card to work just fine in a friends PC. I have a GF2MX that works just fine in my system. I suppose for some reason the Gainward is just incompatable with my system.

Anyways, I'd like to spend probably $100-$120 or so for a new video card. Any recommendations? If I go ahead and spend more money, is the GF4 4200 such as the MSI worth it?

Thanks.

d00d, you'd still end up using the same drivers. Have you tried different driver revisions?

What's the frequency, Kenneth?

I have an Athlon 1800+ and 256 PC2700 DDR memory and an ASUS mobo, and bought the Leadtek Win Fast A250 Ti4200 and benchmarked at 9488. Well worth the money, to me anyways. Good luck

Per this link..... (And if I am correct at guessing from memory that an Athlon 1800 runs at 1.53Ghz?
G3 ti200 vs. 4200 at 1.553 Ghz

CPU Scaling under Unreal Performance Test 2002 - 29fps vs 43 fps

CPU Scaling under Serious Sam 2 - 60 vs 88 fps

CPU Scaling under Comanche 4 - 30 vs 39 fps

CPU Scaling under Quake III Arena - 180 vs 220?

CPU Scaling under Return to Castle Wolfenstein - 127 vs 155?

That is all you need to decide if you want to spend that much more :) Your processeor about peaks the ti200, but not the 4200.
