Hi Ron, Insight,

Thanks for your replies.

Sorry Ron, but I am too tight to throw anything away ;-) Just ask the
wife!

Insight, thank for trying D-Link, but if your experience is as mine in
the UK, they will either not be available or simply not understand the
problem. I am VERY disallusioned with them.

I have written to the UK CEO a letter of complaint now, and hopefully
he can provide me with a technician who understands their own products
:-0

Best regards

Yep, exactly the same problems. My configuration are:

- D-Link DWL900AP+ Access Point (originally used a g-version of the AP,
but had even more problems with that)
- D-Link DWL-G520+ PCI cards (two computers)
- Acer laptop using an Intel Pro Wireless 11b built-in WiFi adapter
- 8 port 10mbps hub connected direcly to the access point
- 2 PC's connected to the hub.

Everything is running WinXP. WEP is disabled for testing, as is any
firewalls on any PCs.

I too used to get the problem where the wifi cards would disconnect and
reconnect at a later stage. This seemed to have been fixed by changing
my 54mbps access point with a 22mbps one (unsure about the 54's model).
The problem does pop up from time to time, but nothing serious.

My biggest problem at this stage is that the wireless connection
between PC's running wireless, is INCREDDIBLY slow and unreliable.
Using the XP task manager, I see a network utilization of 0-5%. I am
unable to copy any files in excess of 100mb, since the connection
starts slow, picks up speed, then drops it again. I can't stream music
or movies, since the connection is just plainly too unreliable. Network
browsing also takes an increddibly long time.

However, when I connect from any system to the PC's connected to the
cabled-network, I get much better results.

Now I don't know if this is a software issue, hardware fault or plainly
a short-coming in wireless LANs? I don't expect a 54 mbps connection,
but I am sure I should be albe to at least stream a mp3?

Also, the DLink equiptment does seem buggy to me, though I am desperate
to put the blame on anyone at this stage. :)
