BlackBerry 7520 v MSOutlook 2000

I was hoping to download client contact info and appointments into my
new Blackberry from MS Outlook2000. I can't seem to get it accomplished
(owned 1 week).
The qualifiers are that my small service company didn't
need/afford/justify the $35/mo. e-mail service, so that might be my problem.
In fact I don't even use Outlook2000 as my e-mail client. I just never was
comfortable with it.
I still believe there has to be some work-around but to tell the truth
this group is about as close as I've come to obtaining reliable information.
I have been to Bluetooth, Nextel, RIM, Microsoft. Could be that I am doomed
to entering them in by hand, but I am willing to investigate any lead
however slim.

Have you installed the desktop assistant? How far have you actually
gotten with this?

FYI... You can't have a blackberry without the email service. If a
salesperson told your company this they lied. The system will
automatically throw the service on there. You'll be able to verify this
when you receive your first bill. That said, you should still be able to
synchronize Outlook with your Blackberry as this is done locally and has
nothing to do with the web service.

Did you load the software that came with the blackberry that syncronizes
the handheld with the computer and are you connecting the unit to the
computer with a data cable. the bluetooth on the blackberrys is only
for voice not data.

I have installed the Blackberry software, resulting in the BlackBerry
desktop and desktop manager icon on my desktop. I feel like all the all the
preliminary hand shaking is good, with the computer and the handheld
acknowledging each other. I feel it is the synchronization (intellisync)
from the handheld to Outlook that I have messed up in some way.
As to the Bluetooth it was just an attempt to locate some potentially
helpful software. Which wasn't successful

I know that opting out for the e-mail is new and not wildly circulated
at this time. In fact Nextel customer service told me the same thing as you
mentioned. But after consulting with her supervisor she relented in her
insistence that it was part of the bundle. Now why Nextel is doing this I
have no idea, but sales is probably involved somewhere. At the end she made
a big deal about "me " acknowledging in a legal language that e-mail had
been declined.
My computer sees the handheld and the handheld says it is connected.
I do get a message from REDIRECTOR SETTINGS " the computer does not know
it's e-mail address, either the e-mail system is not configured properly or
this email is not supported." Note that while this notice was displayed my
USB mouse stalled.
The desktop manager shows a pin (###), connected and online along the
bottom of the display. In the title bar it says connected.
One last thing when I click on the application loader there are not
available option there.

I forgot to mention that I have been able to backup all my data on the
handheld to the desktop computer.

Well, I got it to work, am good to go now. I tried many approaches like the
Outlook repair option, but I had 9 failed (undeliverable) messages in my
outlook inbox. This was a concern that this communication was necessary,
well this morning when I started Outlook it finally let me set up the mail
client and after that I was able to send one of those undeliverable
messages. Went back to intellisync and clicked all the boxes and it took
off, just like I thought it was supposed to.
This is my best guess since I had reached the point where I made so many
attempts, I am not certain if it was one big thing or several smaller
things.
Lastly I now have this message in my inbox that says the following:
This message is used to carry data between the BlackBerry Handheld and an
associated server. Please do not delete, move or respond to this message -
it will be processed by the server.
