Sleep mode dont work

my computer doesnt go into sleep mode. everything looks likes its about to turn off then it just turns back on without going to sleep. heard nvidia cards stop this, is this true? i have an 8800.

It could be the pc is set to wake up if an internet connection is found (wake-on-lan). Check the OS setting. If doesn't work check the bios.

Turn PCI Express Link State Power Management Off:

If on Vista or Win7: Start, Type "Sleep" in the search box and hit enter, Click "Change Advanced power Settings" link, Scroll down to "PCI Express" and click the expand box, Expand the "Link State Power Management" box, and set it to "OFF".

Reboot and try to sleep.
