I have been assigned the task of setting up a summer camp with high
speed wireless internet for counselers and on some days children aged
13-17 years of age.
The camp site is in a somewhat remote area..... DSL & Cable a JUST out
of reach by about 3 Miles. The only available setup would be T1, T3,
or satellite internet (Directway).
The prices we are condsidering is Satellite (1.0 Mbps download, 100K
upload - $109.99 per month ) or a T1 connection (1.5 Mbps
download/upload and $300 per month)
Here is our delema.... the camp site cottages somewhat far apart. We
need to be able share this connection within 4 mile radius if possible
and keep the price as minimal as possible without sacrificing a TON of
the bandwidth. We have about 15 computers that will be sharing this
connection.

These links give good bridging info which is the first step. The first
one is done by these tech gossip columnists that write under the name
Cringely. Do what they did. Give someone free broadband if you can
broadcast from their house to your camp. Monthly cost $60 or less. The
second link is kind of a poor mans guide. The last is a very detailed
work done by a gentleman in the group:
Satellite is so bad I would use it only as a last choice.
