G4, 4200's - 64 vs. 128 MB?

I went out and purchased a PNY Verto, GeForce Ti 4200 yesterday, and I've been looking around for information on this card without a lot of luck.

The biggest concern/question I have about this card is that it has 64MB of Memory, though all the other references I've seen to the 4200 list them at 128MB. There's a graphic on the back of the box that shows benchmarks actually showing the 64MB version is FASTER than the 128MB versions because the memory clock is at 500 vs 444 mhz.

Is this "faster" claim completely accurate, or only under special situations?

Is PNY the only company to make a 64MB version, and can I "substitute" most benchmark scores (like those given for the 4200, 128 in the VGA comparison on this site) of the 128 version and assume the same scores would generally hold true for my 64MB version?

Just curious as to whether I should have looked for something different if this is a gimped-down card.

Any input would be apprieciated. Thanks.

It's right, the 64MB is usually a bit faster nowadays, but in future games, it may change. You can substitute the scores as long as they are clocked at 250/500 for the Ti4200. Some cards (S/U/M/A?) clocks their cards higher than the reference.

All 128 versions can hit 500mhz on the ram easily, the 64 does have faster ram and can usually overclock further.

As far as the ram itself, it makes a minimal difference in most games, but as chuck said, it will change.
