Try here and see if its worth a Shael

http://diablo2.ingame.de/tips/calc [...] ng=english

If it takes you to the next speed break its worth it otherwise its a
waste.
Dont use an ED jewel beccause the base damage is too low especially
if it isnt upgraded.

That's what I'd do. In 1.10, an MA assassin needs as much leech as she
can possibly get. It'll still not be enough at times. ;)

Was it different in 1.09? This is my first MA Assassin
She is now lvl 66 and has 26% life leech so far
with Tal's Mask, SOE and Bartuc's.
I did check the IAS on the Shael and it would be a waste and I guess
short of a BER I could always use more life leech, not sure How she's
gonna do in the higher acts of Hell diff yet

I played 3 HC MA assys through to two to Guardian and one nearly, rest her
soul, and as far as I recall, never socketed any of their weapons, as far as
I recall. As twinked as they all were, I didn't see much point in it.

In 1.10? I achieved the same a few times in 1.09, but in 1.10 I had
serious issues with leeching back enough hitpoints and taking damage.
Twinked, but not unreasonably so.

Don't know. I guess you mean eth as in ethereal? In any case,
regarding the original question, the eth rune is probably an
underrated option in 1.10. If you translate the monster defense
reduction to AR and think about how important it is for the
Assassin to hit each time, eth socketing would look fairly powerful.

Two in 1.10--one in .09.

I found leeching to be a problem in the mid-game. Not much at all later on,
especially with judicious use of the Master. It's a lot like playing a
barb, in that mostly what you need is just a big ol' helping of double "P"
patience. :-)

Heh, can you blame anybody who's put two 1.10 MA assys through the mill for
looking for challenges elsewhere?

I just tried the weapon speed calculator and ended up with 7.75 fps/3.2
attacks per second with my MA Assassin.
With a Chaos in my right hand (35%), and Nats claw in the left (40%)
Laying of Hands gloves (20%) and BoS at 7th lvl (42%)
Not too shabby eh?

Well an Amn and Tal's Mask sure changed my game so far
now that I reached lvl 66 plus I found some nice mirrored boots that I
imbued.

The boots alone double my dam compared to War Trav.
I now do 25K's so far on triple Charge

When I reach lvl 78 I can maybe Eth or Amn this eth ShadowKiller
It looks good on paper but I will be losing a lot of plus to skills
and life leech (15% right now on my Amned Bartuc's)

Ethereal AND Indestructible is the way to go I guess :)

But my Bartuc's so far at 188%ED has 85 to 150 dam
The ShadowKiller at 211% ED has 167 to 195
but it also has -25% to Target Defence and Freeze +2
(even though I have a HF Merc)
I guess I'll see when I get there!
The ShaDow Killer is what got me to build that MA Assassin.

Been playing this game since the days of D1,
countless hours well wasted :)
and I had never played a MA Assassin b4.
I had a Trapper on the previous ladder

Tal's Mask is one of the most popular items going in HC. I think every mule
I have has at least one stashed, and it wouldn't surprise me if most others
who've played HC any time at all have the same. :-)
