Can anybody help, with a very weird problem with an Asus Geforce 4 ti 4400 deluxe graphics card.

My system is as follows:

Asus A7V 333 motherboard
1.2 gig athlon processor
512 DDR PC2100 memory
60 gig hard drive seagate
sound blaster live platinum sound card
300 Watt power supply
windows xp home edition

The problem is when I install the drivers that come with the
card 28.32, all my icons disappear under windows xp, but they still have the writing under them. Also the minimise and maximise buttons on each window I open also disappear, but still function. When I try to open the control panel or any other application it is very slow and sluggish. Also when I try to run quake 2 or quake 3, they just crash saying, "could not find .VXD"

I have also updated the driver from ASUS Live update to 29.42, but I still have the same problems. I then tried Nvidia's reference drivers 29.42 and still the same effect. Each time I have tried these drivers I have completely unistalled the previos driver.

When I set the driver back to standard Graphics driver, all the problems disappear, but then I can't play any games.

Failing all this I have taken out every card out of my computer, except the ASUS Ti 4400 card, and have done a clean install of windows xp. I have tried all these drivers again, each time doing a clean install of windows xp, but I still get the same problems every time....

Has anyone else had these problems, maybe I have a setting wrong.

Any help would be much appreciated..

Oh... gosh I know what the problem is. Your power supply. Get an <A HREF="http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduct.asp?submit=manufactory&catalog=58&manufactory=1400&DEPA=1" target="_new">Enermax 431W</A>, or an <A HREF="http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduct.asp?submit=manufactory&catalog=58&manufactory=1516&DEPA=1" target="_new">Antec 430W</A>, if you want to save money.

Your graphics card causes these strange icons probably due to a bad power supply. To fix them download <A HREF="http://search.microsoft.com/gomsuri.asp?n=2&c=rp_BestBets&siteid=us&target=http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp" target="_new">Powertoys for Windows XP</A>.

Just install Tweak UI 1.33, go to control panel, select the tab called "repair", make sure "rebuild icons" is select, and click on "repair now." It should work.

Good luck!

This little cathode light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine!
