I recently purchased a 2001FP monitor from ebay but it arrived without a
power supply, and apparently Dell are not in the habit of handing them out
except as replacements for dead units (which begs the question of what
happened to the original one).
The seller is very reputable and has offered me a refund - presumably
excluding postage costs in one or both directions and perhaps also PayPal
fees, but I haven't yet managed to get a definitive answer on this. He also
originally asked me whether I wanted to swap it for a 2005FPW, but
subsequently revealed that it will cost me quite a bit extra as it's new, so
with delivery losses on top that's not really an option for me.
Does anybody know where I might be able to get hold of one? I've tried
googling and ebay, but not really got anywhere. As an additional
complication, I'm in the UK, so assuming the monitor end of the connector on
the US (or other) version is pin-compatible it will obviously need to get
over here somehow - preferably without incurring the wrath of customs
officers, which hopefully won't be a problem as if it does it'll probably be
too expensive anyway - and 240V would be preferred though using a step-down
convertor is still a better option than refunding.
Since the monitor has undergone a dead pixel check and is at a decent price
for this side of the Atlantic, I'm willing to go to some expense to obtain
one (and will hopefully convince the seller to foot at least part of the
bill as although it was seemingly beyond his control it's hardly my fault
either), so any suggestions would be very much welcome.
