geforce4 mx440 tv out

I'm thinkg in buying an abit gf4 mx440, my question is can i watch any kind of DVD on my TV, because in the earlier nvidia chipset they used a third party tv encoder an some did not support macrovision.

I thought Macrovision was copy protection, which meant you couldn't record the DVDs onto VHS tape. But you could still output any image onto a TV no problem.

No, Macrovision would detect whether or not the TV out chip was capable of carying a Macrovision signal. If not, you could not see the movie on the TV, the signal would be blocked.

Oh, the GeForce 4 MX series are actually GeForce 2 cards. I would look at the card if I were you to see what kind of TV decoder is on it, because it's probably not built in.

Never mind, your persistance paid off, I actually looked up an article on it:
"But as you can see, there is no TV-Out encoder chip on the card. That should solve your problem.

if the tv out does not support macrovision, windvd or powerdvd would not show the image on the tv, it will grey screen. i tried with the gf2 mx400.
