I plan to buy a GeForce 4 Ti4200. However, I'm not sure which brand should I get. I saw reviews in THG about how some ti cards are too long. Is that really a big issue?

My personal preference has been gainward. I have had good luck with them.

From my knowledge, all the TI 4200 cards are the standard size. The longer cards issue applies to the 4400 and 4600 which are worth buying anyways! If your into overclocking you can get get 4600 performance for the low low cost of the 4200.

btw if your planning on keeping the card for awhile (1 1/2 years +) then go for the 128 MB version of the card.

How do I know the sizes?
I want to buy MSI or ASUS TI 4400, which one will be good with the Gigabyte GA-7VRXP I'm buying and which one is better?

I suggest if you are looking to buy now... wait for the new cards to come out based on the R300 (early August?).... they will cremate the TI 4600 cards...

that's the computer scene, it's allways like that...right?

Ok I understood the difference and it's better to wait for the ATi 9700
How much time do u think it'll take NVIDIA to get back to the top?

ATI Radeon9700 will be out in 29 days i think. And it will cost as much as a ti4600. but performance wont be the same as ti4600. make it 2x and you almost got it

Well, thanx for all the advises. This store offers the best prices on all components I can find so far in Canada..however, they only have the following for the Ti4200 series.

ABIT Siluro GeForce4 Ti 4200 64MB $229
ASUS V8420 GeForce4 4200 128MB DDR $292
LeadTek WinFast GeForce4 TI 4200 128MB w/ VIVO OEM $269
MSI GeForce4 TI 4200 128MB DDR $282

All prices are in canadian dollars and I don't think I need VIVO..but I don't mind having that as a feature on the card.
I probably won't overclock it....so which one you guys think is worth getting? Thanks for your input!!

Those prices look like they're from CanadaComputers.com. Are you sure the LeadTek is OEM? I always thought is was Retail... I'd say wait a bit until you buy a card, cause when R9500 in Q4, it should blow everything away (Ti4600 and under) and it'll probably cost ~$300-350CDN.

EDIT: I think you should wait awhile anyways, even if you're not gonna get an ATi card, cause the prices of those Ti4200 will drop probably $50CDN or so I'd estimate within a couple months. (September)

Yes, these are the prices I get from Canadacomputers.com..
I've searched on some online stores in Canada and so far Canadacomputers.com offers the best price for most of its products. If you know any place better than that, plz let me know!
I think maybe you're right...I'm now seriously considering to purchase my new computer in Sept...
