New to Diablo - I need some help

I'm new to the game. I picked it up at a bargain bin. I am playing as a
Paladin. I'm a skill 4 now.

The problem I'm having is with the Bow and Arrow. When I equip it - and
attempt to shoot an enemy... My character says "I can't". I have the
dexterity required for the weapon.

Can someone tell me what this means.... "I can't"... and what I need to do
to use the weapon?

I have arrows in my inventory. Do I have to equip the bow with arrows
somehow?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Whenever a bow or crossbow is equipped and it shows red, that means you need
arrows/bolts equipped as well to use it.

Whenever you see something that's highlighted red it generally means that it
can't be used yet, or like your problem, you just need to equip ammo. Keep
this in mind as you keep gaming D2.

Like the others said, first your char needs to meet the requirements
of an item.

If you want to use a bow/crossbow you must fill one of your weapon
slots with arrows/bolts. If you then run out of ammu while in a
battle, on the upper right corner of your screen the ammu icon will
appear (yellow = 50 shots left, red = 10 shots left, afair).

Special bows/crossbows don't need ammu at all. There are unique bows,
e.g. the Witherstring which fires Magic arrows, or Raven Claw that
comes with Explosive Arrows. Bows like these can be used all the time
without refilling the ammu slot.
"Magic Arrow" and "Explosive Arrow" are Amazon skills. An ama can use
these ones to enhance the damage a bow usually does. But the unique
bows mentioned above can be used by any char.

a pally with a bow? you just started playing d2 and are playing a ranger?
u got guts and spunk kid (not to say youre a kid...), i like that.

are you playing online or single player? and what patch are you using?

wow, i just made a diablo 2 related post... thats the first time in a few
months.
