I saw more than one benchmark test where GeForce 4 Ti 4600 was on top, than Ti 4400 than 64Mb GF4 Ti 4200 scored higher (faster) than 128Mb GF4 Ti 4200 ...?!
Why is 64 Mb one faster than 128Mb and is spending $50 extra for bigger memory a waste than ?
Thanks.

The 64MB scored higher because of higher clocked memory and cpu speeds. At stock speeds the 64MB version is faster. However, you can overclock the Ti-4200 128MB and make it a great card. Most people would rather spend the extra dough to get more memory because they can safely overclock the 128MB card. Personally I don't know much about the Ti-4200's overclocking potential and which company has the best card that can overclock. Personally I would recommend Leadtek because of their good reputation and the overclocking potential of their cards. I heard that with a good system and a good overclocked 4200 128MB you can get 10,000 3dmarks. Tomshardware was able to reach 310/550 from 250/444. So if you want to overclock you can get a 4200 to perform as well as a 4400. If you dont want to overclock get the 64MB version or get a ATI Radeon 8500 128MB.

Here are the prices at newegg.com

Leadtek Geforce 4 Ti-4200 128MB - $203.00
Leadtek Geforce 4 Ti-4200 64MB - $169.00
ATI Radeon 8500 128MB - $162.00

I have a Gaiward 4200 128MB "Golden sample" and it has the same 4.0ns memory as the 64MB version. It can be easily tweaked *almost* as fast as GF4600.

If you are going to keep your new card, let's say three years, the 128MB version could be a good choice. The new games and apps are getting more demanding of graphics and more onboard graphicscard memory will become usefull in near future,IMO.

But then, 50$ extra. What is the size of your wallet?
