I'm planning on buying an AGP pro graphics card but my motherboard only handles AGP 4x. I imagine that the protocol is backwards compatible and I don't have to worry about it, but could someone confirm this for me? Thanks

You need a motherboard with an AGP Pro slot to use an AGP Pro video card. The AGP Pro slot is physically larger than a standard AGP slot.

You can use a standard AGP card in an AGP Pro slot but not the reverse
