Lost fonts

Since installing and uninstalling some shareware recently, I've lost all my system fonts. Worse than that, everytime I install some, they seem to go missing the moment I close the fonts window.

Anyone got a clue on how I can fix this ?

Guys I really need some help here.

I've tried system restore and it hasn't resolved the problem. I can install all my fonts but the moment I close the font window they all seem to disappear. Booting leaves me with a bunch of unreadable symbols until I manually reinstall the fonts.
