Problems setting up WLAN repeaters

Hi!
I have two 3Com OfficeConnect Wireless Cable/DSL Gateways (AP's), and
I am trying to set the second AP as a repeater to the first. I need
the second to be placed out of range of the wired network.
What I have tried, is to set the second AP with a different address
(192.168.1.2) from the first (192.168.1.1). It is using the same SSID
and the same channel (11). No security and DHCP activated.
With one AP active, both LAN and Internet works fine throgh the WLAN.
But when I turn the second AP on, I canot connect to neither the LAN
or Internet through the WLAN. I suspect that the my laptop connects to
the second AP, and that the AP does not 'route' the traffic to the
first AP (which has the DSL connection and wired computers).

How should I configure the second AP to 'route' the traffic along to
the first AP?

I've used Dlink dwl-2100ap's. They needed network access in a large
conference room on the table. They didn't want to run wires from the
wall (network jack) to the table. Hooked (1) on the network jack on
the wall and use the other on the desk and hooked that to a small 8
port hub (to allow more that 1 pc on the desk to connect). Set them to
bridge mode copied mac address to each unit. It worked well.

Just reread your message. You want (need) wireless on the user
(client) side. It may (should) work as the wired ones did. Maybe check
with Dlink and see what they have to say...
