Just finished building my new computer and I'm starting to see what it can do. Here are the Specs...

- AMD Athlon XP 2100+ (No overclocking)
- Leadtek A250 (Gefore 4 Ti 4400)
- Asus AV7333
- Samsung PC2700 512MB
- WD 80GB Special Edition HD

I ran 3DMark2001SE with default drivers that came with the A250 and got a score of 8200 (no overclocking). Downloaded and installed the Nvidia Detonator 29.42 drivers and got a score of 6100! I thought with the new drivers the scores would have gone up.

Any thoughts? Should I just use the old drivers and o/c the gfx card for higher scores? Thanks!

guru3d.com won't let me link directly but try going to their downloads-->video card utilies section and get NVCleaner, which will remove your old video card drivers. You can also try detonator destroyer if that doesn't work.

This little cathode light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine!

that score is increadibly low, with a 4400. You might try a tweaking program like rivatuner.

"I don't know, what kinds are there?"

Here's what I've recently tried...I uninstalled all the nvidia drivers then used the Detonator Destroyer then installed the Standard VGA adapter. Reinstalled the 29.42 driver...results showed slight increase. Same went with the 30.30 drivers. But the old drivers that came with the Leadtek 4400 card (28.32) still gave better results. So I did the same uninstall/install process and put the original drivers back on. After that, I increased the speed of my Antec side case fan that blows on the MB/GFX Card. Don't know what inspired me to do that but it turns out I increased my score 200 points (total 8400) from the original 8200. So the temperature of the card had a lot of influence on the 3DMark scores. I'll start playing with the O/C, but unfortunately that's just gonna drive the temps up!

Right now, my MB temp shows 89 °F and CPU temp shows 125 °F (From Asus Probe2). Maybe come winter, my scores will break 10,000. :) Or maybe I'll just stick the comp in a mini fridge!

Thanks for all the help and suggestions!

oh, nm, Farenhiet...wtf...who uses that?

Sounds weird. I got better performance with 29.42 and even better with 30.30 than with 28.32 Make sure good ol vsync and antialiasing are off in your tests.

Which OS are you using?

Figured it out. My stupid Leadtek card installs an AGP driver when you are installing the card drivers and software. It overwrites the VIA 4-in-1 drivers. I reinstalled the latest VIA drivers (4.40v) and that did the trick. now I'm getting almost 10,000 3DMark2001se points with 28.32 nvidia drivers, minimal cooling, and no overclocking. Hope that helps anyone with the same problem!
