I'm still not sure on Ti-4200 or 4400, but what would you all consider the best brand? I've heard good things about MSI and Gainward, but it's hard to choose. CPU is an AMD 1800 by the way and this is primarily for gaming. Thanks!

Gaming PC in progress, suggestions welcome :)

if u have the money for a 4400, then get one, it can oc a bit better than the 4200. usually, u can hit 4600 level.
and about brands, there isnt a BIG difference on performance, so any of the reputable brand like Asus, MSI, Leadtek, Gainward... etc are fine, it's just a matter of picking the cheapest one.

Gainward seems to be a pretty solid brand, and tends to add distinguishing features to each of its cards. Someone said Abit's had the quietest fan. Asus is pretty much no-nonsense whatever you buy from them. Very reliable.

Well, I'm in the same boat as you are (except I'll have a P4 1.8A). This is what I've decided. Unless you really need to play UT2003 with max settings, just get the Ti4200. I'm getting a Ti4200 and then I'm gonna see what happens this Christmas between nVidia and ATi. I'll probably either get a R9500 or a second tier NV30. From what I've seen, when you overclock both cards, you'll get performance within about 5% of each other. That's not worth the extra money IMO. That money could be well spent somewhere else.

As for the Ti4200 brands, I'm still not sure whether to get the LeadTek or the ASUS. I removed MSI from the list cause from what I read, the fan is *annoyingly loud* and doesn't overclock all that well. The LeadTek overclocks quite well, according to reviewers, and ASUS just seems like a very good company, although I've been unable to find a review of the non-deluxe version.

 Finally, I get a capitalized title!! WOOT!!

The Asus site doesn't even list a non-deluxe ti4200 version... on purpose, perhaps but then I'm paranoid...

There are no stupid questions... just lots of inquisitive idiots...

I have had good luck with Gainward cards so far.

That's a review for the non-deluxe ASUS card.
