I've been getting an error in Warcraft III, and when I sent an e-mail to Blizzards tech support (got an answer in just a few hours, Go Blizzard!!) I was told to do this:
1) Start menu.
2) Settings.
3) Control panel.
4) Display properties
5) Settings
6) Advanced/
7) Click the tab with the card name (ie GFti4600)
8) Additional properties
9) Direct3d settings
10) Change the PCI texture memory from whatever it is to 2mb.it is to 2mb.
---
The PCI texture memory currently set to 63 MB, but I don't dare to change that value before I know what it is. What does it do? Does it affect the performance of my card (which is a GF4 Ti4600)?
This is physical memory assigned to a PCI video card. You have an AGP card.
Change it to 2MB, and save it as a "custom" setting. Call the setting whatever you wish. This is just so the computer will "remember" not to allocate the extra memory to a non-existent card.
Choose anything lower than 2MB, and the next time you access this area, it will be set back to 63MB ... which explains the 2MB recommendation.
