polygons per second in games and 3D

When i see the number of polygons per secod in card characteriscis, is this number just for games or is it olso for 3D graphics? Are there any diference about these polygons (in games & 3D)?

I am not sure why you are seperating 3d graphics from games. Games are 3d graphics, basically 99.9% now.

The polygons per second applies to any game of course, because it's how much the card can do. It's like Fill Rate, if a game has or requires more Mpixels per second than the card does, it's likely you needs to lower the game graphics to play with good FPS.
