can RAM fry a video card

Hi, I just had my video card fried. I found it fried after a sever lightning storm, so I'm pretty sure thats what fried it. But I want to rule out the possibility that it was the 256 mg of RAM i just bought. Also, my modem will not work, so I'm almost positive that it was the lightning, but is it possible that it was the RAM?
