Have you tried going back to the new mpq? Did the runeword return? Just
curious... :-)

Hmm, in my experience most things do work on open b-net. Not sure how
much has changed for open b-net with 1.10, but there's a good chance
it'll work.

The enabling of ladder-only runewords is rather trivial and shouldn't
cause any problems. I'm not sure what aurafix this mpq is supposed to
implement, but I find it unlikely that it's unstable. Overall I'd say:
go for it! :-D

There's a problem that causes a crash of the german version when you point
on an item that provides an aura when equipped. I guess the aurafix fixes
that.

Probably not, for a couple of reasons. First, even with the explicit
instructions here, I don't feel comfortable messing with the files. I
do that enough now by playing with different mods, which is the second
reason. I already play CE, which is so stable it's unreal, at least in
my experience and from what I read on their forums, so I have them in
there, no need then to have them in other mods or the original.

IIRC you can play with mods on open bnet, so you could give it a try.
I remember several people there asking for games with a specific mod
to be opened.

yeah, I wouldn't mix different modifications, too.
OTOH, its really easy to "install", there's only a readme and the mpq
file in the download. Just copy your current file somewhere and drop the
new mpq
in the DiabloII directory. That's all.

I don't care too much about open bnet, just need it to work in TCP/IP games
for rushing chars on my one PC.
Anyhow, there aren't too many runewords in there I could afford, so I might
just skip it for good..

well, as the axe with the runeword was gone completely (not only the
runeword), I didn't bother trying the new mpq again.

I'll have to try if it works in TCP/IP games I do for rushing on my PC
here. If that works, I might go for the patch.

I still haven't seen a patch that enables the "old" ladder-only runewords
like Duress (I'd love to have that armor).
I have no idea how this mpq-patching works. Are these new runewords already
in there or do these programmers just add them to the list of the active
runewords?
Finally, with my highest rune being a VEX, there ain't too many runewords
in there I could really use. OTOH, my throwbarb would love a SPIRIT
shield...

I'd say a "VEX" is pretty impressive (I NEVER got one of those,
i'll have to admit :-( )
That should be useful for quite a few RWs

well, I was quite surprised when it dropped into the arms of my Enchantress
in WSK2 nightmare(!).
