I want to setup a wireless hotspot (not free of course) using my home 6MB
DSL connection. Has anybody else tried this and with what results? Also what
software did you use? how did you collect money? and doi you think it is
worth the effort?
I looked at hot spot in a box from Linksys/Boingo - any good?

I would go the "free" route. Perhaps you can sell some basic adveritising
on a captive portal page for your network to local businesses and thus pay
for your DSL? Or if you really have a great deal of traffic in your area,
find out what the competition is charging and be well, competitive in your
pricing. There are many methods to collect money, Boingo may be the easiest
to setup w/ the Linksys VPN router they offer, or you could try your hand at
a Linux-based solution like NoCat or a commericial provider like Sputnik,
Pronto Networks...
