I've currently got a 17" Samsung CRT and when I build my next computer I'm looking to get a 19" CRT in addition. What are the best graphic cards for multi-heading, that give good options on spreading the desktop across the screens? I'm not into serious gaming so I don't need scorching performance. I'll also be dual booting with linux (SuSE) and from what I've read I may need to purchase the Xig software to enable decent multi-head performance under linux. However this only supports a limited number of cards.

Cheers for any help

From what I understand, the Matrox G400 DH cards have great multi-monitor support and have support in Linux. I don't know about dual-head support in Linux though.

All of the later Matrox cards (G450, G550, Parhelia) also have great multiple monitor support, but does not have strong (any?) Linux support (Although Matrox is supposedly working on a linux driver for the Parhelia)

Hope this helps.

Zitch

(Wow... I'm starting to sound like a Matrox commercial lately... Scary)
