Sadness - couldn't kill Clone

After waiting all season, I finally got the clone to appear in one of
my HC hell games. I quickly got my level 91 Summoner necro and put on
all his safety gear, got my minions and decided to pop the clone near
Eldritch in act 5. Now, this is a character that has solo'ed the
entire game, slow but steady. And I couldn't make a stinking DENT in
the clone. I tried my normal decrep curse, then I tried Amp, and each
time he just raped my minions and hammered my merc. Every time the
merc cut a thin slice into his life bar, he healed himself almost
instantly. I lasted at most a minute each time before I had to TP
out...and, of course, he fully healed himself every time I did this.
After about an hour of trying every different combination of revives,
curses and equipment, I finally just gave up in frustration.

I killed the clone just after 1.10 came out with a Barb that could
stand in his lightning and fire streams, whacking at him with Prevent
Monster Heal equipment and Crushing Blow weapons. It wasn't all that
hard, actually, although it took about 20 minutes all told. My necro
has never had a problem with any part of the game, but couldn't scratch
the clone.

Can anyone share their "Clone-Killer" builds? I am particularly
curious about Paladin and Barb builds, but if there is a way to do it
with Necros (my personal favorite) or other ranged characters I'd also
be interested. Also, bear in mind that this is HC only, and solo...I
rarely play in parties.

I've read descriptions of summoning necros having good success using
revives that can deal crushing blow. I don't have a complete list
of which monsters these are, but it includes Urdars at least. If
you get teleport gear and tp right on top of the clone with pack
of Urdars he will die quickly.

My necro can kill the Clone with a couple or no reviveds. Key is
merc's equip: Hone Sundan + Guillaume's Face + over-the-max FR.
However, any summoning necro can kill the Clone, even with lousy
equipment, given a little patience. Key would be reviveds, as
skellies don't last long against the Clone. Best kinds of Reviveds
are the Bunderbore class ones found either in River of Flame or
Canyon of Magi. Moon Lord type (the frenzy guys) are also extremely
effective. Failing to find either of the above, go for Cows. They
aren't as effective, but there is an unlimited supply of cows. The
first time I faced the Clone, I spent two or three trips to the moo
moo farm and eventually got the job done.

A smiter with very fast attack, loads of Crushing Blows, as
described by Bullet, can easily kill the Clone, I'd say at about lvl
50 or so.

Necro can kill the clone, quite fast too.
Get some og all those lunderbore types around, the have Crushing Blow
attack, make sure your merc has Crushin blow gear too.

Else of build type.
My Concantrate IK Barb took down the clone in app. 2 minutes.
My messed up avenger took him down in between 15 and 45 seconds(he had
around 50% CB)

If you find him again, play on east, and I'm on, PM, on bullet_stopper,
me and I will help. I've killed him many times using a smiter. Only
takes about 20 seconds or so.
it isn't an expensive build.
Skills:
Max - Smite, Holy Shield, Fanaticism, Defiance, one point in pre-reqs
and zeal for lvling, 91 total, with lvl 4 zeal.

Stats
Str - 142 Str for Upped HOZ (after gear)
Dex - enough for max block, 123 at lvl 85, IIRC
Vita - everything else
Energy, none

Gear:
Guillaume's Face (with Um)
Upped HoZ (p diamond)
Heavens Light Mighty scepter with 2 shael runes
T gods
Duress armor
Draculs
Gore Riders
Ravenfrost
Dwarf Star

This build gives 98% Crushing blow. The life tap from the draculs makes
it so you don't even need potions. I used a defiance merc for awhile,
but he kept dying to clone, and I quit reviving him.

This smiter doesn't need any PMH or PUH or PHimH stuff. Most of the
damage done, roughly 590k of the Clone's life, is taken away by
Crushing Blow, in around 10 seconds. Yes, 10 seconds. Another 10
seconds is for taking away the remaining 10k of the Clone's life,
which is actually the tough part. Whenever the Clone regenerates,
he lose more, much more, life to one CB hit.

What's more is that you don't need all these equipment to get the
job done. If you are cheap, you can replace HoZ with any
exceptional/elite pally shields with huge resists. Resists come
first here, as the other auto mod, AD, doesn't give a very
substantial boost to the damage for this build. You can replace
Heaven's Light with Hell's Torch, aka, Black runeword flail. You
can do without Lightning Absorb, or even Fire Absorb, if you have
over the limit resistance. All you need is CNF item.

We took him down last night.

I drive my 87 necro summoner level 30 skel/mastery
Clay golem, might merc, and Decrep.
My friend drove his paladin with HF merc.
HF, Decrep, Clay Golem, Diablo stopped moving.
CB (Crushing Blow) brought the big lizard down.

If I played more, I'd have my own CB on my own might merc.

But we cheated: I had a second character, an enchantress...

Easy to kill with firewall if you can get him stuck behind a wall.
You need a wand of lower resists tho.
