Help!! Lost valuable item.

I was in alone in an nm baal game last night with my 76 pally when I
got killed in worldstone level 3. I hate leaving when I die so I went
to the rogue encampment to waist some time so that the game was saved
in case I had to leave. After a couple of minutes I hired a merc to
take back with me. I returned and picked up my body then tp'd back to
town. I noticed that I wasn't wearing any armor so I went back to WK3
and it wasn't there. I don't even know what the armor was except that
it had 1200 and some odd defense. Now I have nothing. Talk about
depressed. I have lost faith in this game if I lost this item because
of a bug. Can anyone explain how this could happen? I never saw
anyone come in to the game and besides it was on my body so I should
have picked it up when I got my body. Could the merc have it?

One explanation: during the time that you returned, you (accidentally)
clicked on some armor and were wearing it when you got your body. When
you don't have enough room for the body and its belongings, it only
picks up what you can.

Another explanation, probably less likely: There are, believe it or not,
Trojan horses that can run on your PC that can steal your access to
battlenet, take your stuff, and sell it on Ebay.com. Here's a link:

I thought that if you clicked on your corpse to recover your stuff, and you
don't pick it all up, when you leave the game its gone? That does away with
corpse popping, but is still a pain.

Of course I'm not going to test it with my Tal's Armor or anything, but
thats how I understood the situation.
