Amazon and Buriza?

Hi,

I always wanted to do a Bowazon, so I looked through my ATMA stash and
found this Buriza-Do Kyanon crossbow. 100% pierce and 80%IAS look like some
great mods?

Weapon speed calc says she can do 4fpa with Strafe. Is that right? Another
15%IAS from equipment would get it down to 3.5fpa.

Other bow/crossbow options?

Thanks,

Oliver

That's the only crossbow I'd use, if I was going for Bows an upgraded
Lycanders works, or Goldstrike (upgraded even better too). My Strafeazon
used an Upped Lycanders and an Eaglehorn.

I also found a rare bow of some sort with 280 Max damage, its pretty sweet
too :)

what i did that worked for me was i *think* midway through regular
level or at least early nightmare, was a three socketed stag bow with
the rune word melody. i had +5 to my amazon skills, with extra
bonuses to strafe and a bunch of other great features, including
knockback, which is *really* worth it in hell level. it keeps those
lightning exuding critters away from you.

at the beginning of hell level, i also made a grand matron bow with
the rune word venom. this has the added bonus of driving critters
away. i would use this bow most of the time, switching back to melody
for bosses and champions (who are immune to the flee ability) to use
the knockback to keep them away from me.

i completed hell level using venom and melody.

i'm redoing hell level now, and equipped the entire m'avina set. what
irritates me is that i'm used to the flee ability from the venom bow,
so i really had to change my playing style. i now use the m'avina bow
most of the time, switching back to melody when i encounter bosses or
lightning critters that i need to keep away from me.

never realized that a low level bow would be so useful throughout the
entire game, including hell level. :)

Buriza used to be great in 1.09 patch. However, I have heard from some
people that it's useless these days. At least for hell. You don't see any
amazons running around these days.

Works fine for my strafer. I wouldn't use it for multishot. The lists I have
seen list the bows in order of best as:

#1 windforce
#2 upgraded goldstrike
#3 buriza

So, if you are not on ladder (so you can't upgrade a goldy) and don't have a
windforce, then buriza is your best choice.

thanks for reminding me of the runewords. Too bad most other missile
runewords are way too expensive. But I might try a Harmony bow for the
valk, though.

I've played ranged Enchantress and Pally, but I don't think I'd like the
flee mod. OTOH, knockback is just great for a ranged attacker.

why Goldstrike? No special mods beyond high damage, speed and attack rating
bonus?

well, in SP you can do exceptional to elite upgrade, fer sure. Once again I
see Goldstrike mentioned. What is the big advantage of this bow?

yeah... but the melody combo is a relatively easy one to make. :)

i know my boyfriend *hated* both the knockback and flee aspects of my
bows, as his barbarian (using fury) would start running willy-nilly
around the screen, he'd lose control of it, and wind up running off,
usually into other creatures. he'd be trying to click on things to
hit them, and then they wouldn't be there, thanks to me. :)

personally, i *love* the flee and knockback features for a ranged
weapon, because i find that i can sacrifice a bit of defense and hit
points for other things, thus making them less likely to be hit. of
course, the drawback is that when i do get things too close, i don't
stand up for very long. :/

I use upped Witchwild on the switch, for PI's. Socketed with ED jewels, it
can easily dispatch PI's with magic arrow, when amp damage kicks in, I
switch to upped goldstrike.

Well, I always like the ED bonus to Demons and Undead, and the lightshow it
puts on for ya.

And now that we can upgrade them, it just gets better.
