I am looking to buy a sub $150 vcard I and am undecided between the Gainward GF3Ti200 Golden Sample with 128MB or the GF4 Ti200 64MB. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Also I had a GF4 MX440 for about a week and ran into driver issues should I expect the same with these cards.

Hi,

Due to your choices I tend to belive that your are a gamer right - then I take the ti-4200 rather than the ti-200, and then clock it a bit (around ti-4400) - the 64 vs. 128 MB should not be considered an issue - since most games is flawlessly run in 800x600 or. 1024x768, I'd pick the ti-4200.

Definetly go with the GF4 ti4200. That is better way to go. Your performance will be better.

The Ti4200 is definately going to give better performance. A friend of mine has the GF3 Ti200 you mentioned and i've found that my Ti4200 that i got last week has much better performance. The 64MB isn't going to be an issue, thats still a lot of memory, and the memory is much higher clocked then in the GF3. Also, the NV25 has a lot of new hardware features so you get better image quality. I found my Ti4200 (128MB version) easily hit Ti4400 clock speed for the GPU, and the memory is only a bit below. your Ti4200 should reach GPU and memory clocks equal to the 4400, because the 64MB version has a higher memory clock.

Hi!!!! (First of all, i just need to say that this is my firts post here!! -clap clap clap- hehehe)
Well, Mr, Slappy, if you at the end decide to get a Geforce4, I trully recommend you to get one with 128 mbs Ram. I guess you're a gamer (aren't you?). Well, in that case, now that games like Doom III are very close to be released, 128 mbs in my opinion would be the best adquisition, because I feel that in 3D 1st person games Doom III graphic motor is going to become a standard in times to come, and 128 mbs would be the textures depth taht this game will manage, and we don't what to be out of RAM!. Maybe the price difference is a bit big, but is should prove the right decision. Whatever yo do, buy a Geforce 4 instead of a geForce 3 if you are buying looking towards the future. You will feel the difference. Or maybe think about getting one from Ati, whcih is also a good choice (I've heard that the 9700 one rules!!, but that's an expensive one)
Whichever you buy, hava fun playing!!

It'd help a lot if you listed your overall specs. From those 2 choices though, I'd take the Ti4200 anyday.
