agp 4x vs agp 8x with radeon 9700??

Ive searched around some and couldnt find anything on if the 8x agp will make a big difference over 4x agp. Im building a new system and dont want to go through the hastle of getting an agp 8 board unless there is a large difference. Thx ahead of time


If you guys know of any webpages that have anything on this plz post them!

There is no benchmark avaible but i am sure that it wont change much the performance on game

There was tests running with the newer AGP 8X mobos and it did absolutely nothing to help perf. Basically just a marketing gimmick :tongue: .

Hmm well that makes me feel a bit better cuz i just went out and bought a 4x agp mobo anyways ..I COULDNT WAIT heheh

If u want to buy a new 128MB card like R300 or even 256MB card like NV30, AGP 8x will do nothing for the performance of foreseeable games.

But if u want to buy a 64MB card and play new game like DOOM3, AGP 8x does have an important help.
