Keith Moon of The Who. He reinvented rock drumming. Not to mention originating the rock ethos of the car in the swimming pool and TV out of the hotel window.
Dead, of course.
Remember the cocaine riddled drummer for the Trons? He choked on his own vomit in that hotel room in England with Hendrix. He was at Woodstock with Joan Baez and also sat in with CSN &Y and Santana that day.

John Henry Bonham .... RIP.This guy is a clown ... pretty basic drumming but great showmanship nevertheless.
I hear 'ya. I wanted to provide this classic Woodstock clip of John Bonham to entice your memory of the man and his drums.

I've seen quite a few concerts in my day, and I literally love the drum solos, as far as multiple drummers IMO no group beat the Grateful Dead, but for a single drummers performance no one has yet today touched John Bonham in a live performance, if you track down the movie, "The Song Remains the Same", you get to see John Bonham unleashed.
I truly respect the members of Led Zeppelin for respecting John enough not to even attempt to replace him and go on, because without him there was no Led Zeppelin, a truly remarkable group that even today their music still relates, and each individual member of the group made Led Zeppelin what it was.
It was truly a privilege and honor to of seen Led Zeppelin perform live before John died, a concert I will never forget, but thankfully get to relive every time I watch, "The Song Remains the Same".

I also neglected to mention Stewart Copeland ... probably a technically superior drummer than Bonham ... but perhaps not as imaginative.
In my mind anyway.
A hard call to make when our family are all musos and my drummer son will undoutably go on about some double kicker idiot who can't hold rythym past 3 minutes anyway.

I saw Led Zepplin in the early 70's. Begged my mother to take me to see The Beach Boy's in 1965. I was in 5th grade. She finally sent away for tickets. The money order was returned with 'Sold Out' scribbled on a note. Some of my friends saw Hendrix, Black Sabbath and The Moody Blues. I was invited to BS and MB, but chose to stay in the attic and paint. Through all this I learned...
