Battlenet drops with Netgear WGR614v5 router

Hello!

I am trying to help my nephew get something called Battlenet to work. I am
not a gamer, but I assume Battlenet is a gaming server(?). He has a Netgear
WGR614v5 router with 1.07 firmware running on a cable modem. He has been on
the phone with Netgear's tech support (India, level 1 support) several times
and cannot resolve the problem.

He can surf all day and play games all day until he fires up a game called
Blizzard on Battlenet. About 25-30 minutes into a Battlenet session, his
Internet connection drops for all computers connected to the router and he
has to power off the router and his XP SP2 computer to get it going again.
He is connected to the router via CAT5, not wireless.

There was a post from Tim Nicholson in January

that mentioned the exact same router, but I was not sure from the replies if
or how he actually got it to work.

Anyone else having this problem and gotten it to work?
