Hi guys i have a PIII 650mhz, 128mb Ram and a 8mb Graphic Card I'd like to play new games like GTA3, Unreal3 and others. I'm thinking in a GeForce4Ti 4200 (my agp is 2x). Is it the best to buy to my PC?

For your system, I'd save money and buy a Geforce2. Maybe a Geforce3. I think a Geforce4 Ti and maybe the MXs will bottle-neck on your p3 650. Ugh now that I think about it, the Geforce4 MX 420 would prolly work pretty good. It's basiclly a Geforce2 with higher clock speeds.
But for $40,you can get a Geforce2 MX400 . I usually don't like talking about the GF2 MXs, but with your system any 32mb/64mb MX will be a great improvement over your current 8mb card
Best bang for your buck, any of the Geforce2 line above the MX400(GTS, GTS Pro, GF2 Ti, GF2 Ultra)

Try not to get a MX series card. For that system... a GF2 Ti or a GF3 Ti200 would be the max.

If you want to play Unreal 2 (yes, 2) then you need a better overall system.

Well, if you can get a Ati Radeon 8500 128 MB BBA then that would be a good choice.

But if you want to play Unreal 2 you´ll probably have to upgrade at least the CPU.

The reason I don't think that would be a good upgrade is cause a cheaper card would give you the same performance. Now if you were to upgrade your overall system, then a Ti4200/R8500 would be better.

I'd say go with the card if you like it. You have a good system that's just a little shy on CPU speed, but you'll still get noticable increases with the Ti4200 over, say, the Ti200, over, say, the Ti. The steps just aren't as big. It would be really cool if your board and RAM supported 133MHz FSB, because at that bus speed you'd have 866MHz, not bad for gaming in spite of what all the freaks would have you to believe.

My wifes comp is a Asus P2B with a P3 700@933 with a G2 64MB Pro. I can play any game we have at good frame rates and almosst all details on. This includes Jedi Knight 2 1024x768 32bit, Diablo2 Lords of destruction 800x600 32bit Max for this game and Giants 1024x768 32bit.

So dont go for all the hype that you nee a 1gig+ processor and a G3 or better to play these games. Mosst monitors refresh at 85hz or less at these resolutions. So anything above 85fps you will never get to see anyway.

Also the better the video card is the more tasks it takes away from the processor. This leaves more procesor cycles to figure other aspects of the game.

I aint signing nothing!!!

Tks all, i think i will buy a GeForce Ti4200 now and later upgrade my system then i will get the most potential of the graphic card and play some cool games till there.
