Well, I've been looking around recently for the best PCI card available. I would get a AGP card, but Compaq screwed me over, and I don't have a AGP slot, only PCI.
So..... I'm in search for the best PCI card available.
Is there any cards that are better than those that I listed, that are PCI? Price is not a factor, but I am looking for a gaming PCI card, not a workstation one. Please also answer these questions:
I have heard rumors about a GeForce 2 Ultra 64 MB DDR PCI card and a GeForce 3 64 MB DDR PCI card. I have looked around, but have seen no such thing. Is this rumor true?
Is the GeForce 2 GTS PCI available in 64 MB DDR? Or is there a GeForce 2 PRO 64 MB DDR PCI?
Is there any GeForce 4 MX PCI that are available that are higher than MX 420, also, is there a GeForce 4 MX 420 PCI that is available in DDR 64 MB?
Thanks a lot in advance, all help is very much appreciated.
Look, PCI cards are absolute sh*t. Even if you bought a GF4 ti4600 PCI it would perform only a teensy bit better than a TNT2. You would be much better off making yourself a new computer, with AGP and perhaps a better CPU, Mem etc aswell. This is what i did, my new system is good for the games that i want to play, but its also extremely upgradable.
My sig's faster than yours, and it overclocks better too....
If you can get an original Radeon 32Mb SDR PCI for dirt cheap then that's the way to go. Catalyst drivers register this card as a 7200, so it's in a good class and not the bottom of the barrel so to speak. I got one at Comp USA a month ago for 29.99 on closeout, and I've seen them at WalMart for around $35 because WalMart only sells PCI video cards....don't ask me why. You can get a 1st Gen. Radeon for cheap and it will do the trick.
If your looking for a gaming card, get a new mobo with agp. I got a pci R7000 once and was never happy with it. The graphics and everthing is ok, but I could tell the system was bottlenecked. PCI is just a bad idea.
