Is possible to upgrade item with runeword ?

I just found flail with 3 slots.
I would like to know if I make runeword in it - if it will be possible
to upgrade this flail to knout or even to scourge (with runeword
within it ?

Not possible to do.

However if you're "Black"-ing it, the runes are cheap as are the items to
make it in... so make a new one when you meet the level and stat reqs.

I believe that if you wanted to upgrade something like that the best thing
to do would be to find one that you like which is a Standard Unsocketed
item, Upgrade it then get Larzuk to socket it.

Only uniques and rares can be upgraded. Rune words don't
count as uniques despite their similar color.

I wasn't saying to upgrade a runeword... i meant upgrade a standard item...i
thought you could upgraded a standard item from 1 level to the next then
socket it with larzuk and then make the runeword....

As long as the item is "white" it can be made a runeword.

There is no method to change a flail into a knout or scorge, unless it
is a rare or unique flail, in which case you can't make a runeword in
it.

So, the answer is No. Make the runeword in the flail, it will stay a
flail forever.

If you want the runeword in a scourge you must find a white or grey
scourge and socket it.

Ok, i appoligize... I wasn't 100% sure as i have never Upgraded an item at
this point. I was just saying what i thought you could do.
