Realm Char Countdown shows but Box says Expired

This week, the countdown on one of my characters
indicated 'Expires in 52 days'.

Clicking on that character gets message:
[ The character xxx has not been used
[ for over 3 months and has expired

In agd/agd Regnitto mentioned he got that
on one of his chars also.

I didn't notice any posts on this in the group,
so I'm making a rare post to mention it.
lol, so rare that I didn't see AOL dropped newsgroups!
( I read through a different ISP than this acct.)

I have been refreshing older chars by
bringing them into the 'Join' screen.
Now I entered them again, into games
to reset the play date.

A few chars came up "Not Found"
One whole account still showed countdowns
but the message box said 'expired.

I e-mailed Blizzard support and
got this response* to the _known bug_.
'Type of error' also addresses Player Not Found

[ Character Inquiry Form is only for
[ chars that can NOT BE USED in any way;
[ please submit a separate request for
[ EACH character you are having problems with.

If the system date has been played with you can get the "expires in x
days" to show despite the char having been flushed by the server. The
server will dump the char at 90 days. The "countdown timer" is
maintained on the players computer, so if you mess with the clock, you
can have a bogus countdown.

I'm having the same problem with multiple characters and accounts. All of
them were refreshed regularly and should not have expired. You're doing
better then me with Blizzard though, I emailed them on Sunday and so far
have only had the canned auto response.

If they resolve this issue for you, can you post a message here confirming
this? If it's a general bug, my characters might rise from the dead too.

Thanks,

Donald

As per my other post, I'm having similar problems. When I emailed blizzard I
got a canned response pointing me to the same form but w/o any reference to
this being a known bug. Interestingly, my response indicated that characters
had to be entered into a game to refresh them and restart the countdown. My
understanding was that all you had to do was log in and get the character as
far as the join screen. This is all I have typically done and I've never had
characters expire before.

Can anyone confirm that you do have to actually play them? And if so, is
this a recent change?

Thanks,

Donald

At some point in the past, you had to enter a game.
But since 1.10 at least, all I've been doing is going to the join
screen and all my characters have been refreshed.
(My last refresh, done with only a few days left, was a week or so ago
and all the counters were reset as expected.)
