I ran a file search, and do you know where Windows XP found the file?

INSIDE A FRIKKIN .ZIP ARCHIVE, THAT'S WHERE!
That's pretty amazing :)

Yup. You can even browse .zip files as though they were folders too. You can even read .txt files inside .zips without decompressing them first. It's kinda cool.

XP is definitely a step in the right direction.

Nah, I'm probably going to go back to 2k.

XP is great...except for one little problem. It frequently "locks up" for about 3-4 seconds when I try to switch between windows.

No idea why it does this. Win2K never did this. And it is driving me insane.

C'mon guys, you can do that using a little tool called "WinRAR"--assuming you're using Windoze.
Otherwise, browsing .zip, .rar, etc. files as if they were folders is old news for Linux users. Best things, NO security holes!....and you know it!

bah! winrar? who's got time to go and open up winrar? not to mention how much time and effort the intergrated cd burning saves. sheesh, imagine having to go and actually open up nero or ezcd creator. would never get anything done during the day. oh the horror!

Reply to mbetea

Dude, I'm don't know what you're talking about, but I thinking you're confusing WinRar with CDRWin.
WinRAR is an actually archiving utility, just like WinZip.
You don't even need to open up the actual WinRAR program...just click on the .rar or .zip file and voila! You can browse it like a folder!

Stick, you can do that with xp too, and furthermore, if the zipped folder is pictures, you can VIEW THEM IN THE ZIP AS THUMBNAILS, now thats cool.

But burger said he used his windows search function and found files in zips, which is very cool IMO.

Yeah, I know you can view the contents of compressed files in linux without decompressing them. Cool feature, but I just use windows a bit more, and it's nice they finally have it.
