I just got the July/August copy of Computer Gaming World magazine
yesterday, and in it they say it seems that D3 is more than a mere rumor.
According to them, there are job listings on Blizzards site looking for
people to work on a 'AAA' title, also, CGW said that the music has already
been recorded in the Czech republic.
That was all they had to say for now.

So it's actually in the making? Or to be in the making soon?

*dashes out to store to buy a copy of Computer Gaming World magazine*

Not really being computer game savvy, I guess a game needs to be
programmed, QA tested, etc. I don't know how long that takes, but I
assume we're still talking years?

This was known last year already, actually. D3 had been in the planning
stages for a while.

If they were to start from scratch making D3 tomorrow, it would take a
least a year or two, most likely, yeah.

Do they do beta testing outside the U.S?

"It compiled!!!!! Let's send it out!"

Not sure...but that's what I think the programmers of certain games
have done when releasing it based on the game itself.

I think Blizzard is one of the companies least likely to pursue the
above testing strategy. They're actually pretty good about making sure
their software is stable, especially compared to the majority of PC
game developers.

Do I hear a man who has played CM4?

Unless it's someone standing next to me and muttering... Um, what's
CM4?

I did suffer TOEE (which I liked but was bugged by the bugs), and
Masquerade, and a couple of others that were way less than "polished".

Abything like Scared which was basically unplayable due to crashes and
gliches when first release to general market?

Yeah, its called patches 1.01 -> 1.09. ;)

Seriously, Blizzard's quality of output tends to be among the industry
best...software is difficult to Q/A, online software that people are
attempting to exploit 7/24 even moreso.

I wonder if D3 will be monthly fee based? I refused to play WoW for
this reason, I suspect D3 will be the same.

BTW, for the record it took me 3+ years to escape my Diablo2 addiction.
My withdrawal consellor assigned me 1 dose of HL2 sprinkled liberally
with Counter Strike Source.

Yes.

They release it, and we beta test it. Then they prepare patches.

My point, exactly. _We_ beta test it, they don't :)
