It is a momentuous occasion. All of us in the forum here get to our pcs at the same time and the extraterrestrials give us a live feed to their LAN-ding at their secret base in Nepal.
YOU are now one of us.
Divulgation of these facts is greatly proscribed, for sanity reasons.
HAIL to you flywheel.

Bad boy, you have opened a can of beans, er or is it worms !
They are landing at there main base: yes, ON THE FARE SIDE OF THE MOON !
Unfortunatly i am not deserving enough or wise or enlightened enough to grasp to when or even the how for that matter.
But from the amout of fuss about this scenario (you know the apollo tapes and photos etc) there is something a happening out there.
Maybe YOU can tell me something i don't know, dearest Era ?

online? The way I read it in the other forum, it sounded like everyone got together at the same place b/c they talked about how they would transport their computers (which would make sense considering LAN is local area network). This was actually a serious question b/c I've never heard of this sort of thing and I was wondering what the benefit would be to get together with a bunch of other computer geeks and network. It seems that you could do this sort of thing online but I didn't know what was meant by this term.
Yes you have described yourself a LAN.
My kids have a 2 pc lan at home. " pcs, each a network card and one with a HUB. Some say for 2 pcs the hub is unnessary and others say for good connections all the time get a hub.
Now,
If you have 2/3/more friends over and hook them up to the hub, you can play games as: C&C,Q3,UT etc all at the same time. Make teams, play one against 2 etc. Really loads of fun. Really, really really
Sorry about Pike's comments he tends to lose it No genuine offence was entended , i'm sure, i know the fish.

I love LAN's- although we're not supposed to install games, a few of my freinds, installed UT and Armada 2 all over the school network, and since the person who stays in out computer lab to look after the comps doesn't know anything, she's never realized. It's soo great- we have HUGE games there. And the comps are all 1 Ghz P3's w/ 512 SDR, and 16MB vid cards, so it's really cool.
They wont- or rather can't get pissed, cause ever after the system admin got fired, I'm the one fixing comps when I feel like it. hehehe, I have every password. hehehehe.
Ahhh...gotcha. Games--now that makes sense why they would want to network. My extent of playing games is when I try to play Half Life. I mean I can play it, I guess I'm just not as good as say some of those 13, 14 year olds probably. Thx.
you basicly get a bunch of poeple to bring there computers some place hook them up on a lan network and play games against everybody.
the really benifit to this is really low lag and get to talk smac to every body but that is all that is really god about it
(just got my frist one last friday but i didn't have quake three so i sate around alot)_

it was supposed to be a joke, now i know flywheel was serious about the Q, I shouldnt have written it ot it was badly worded.
anyway, I though it was just like our star-party (where we go to the country side with our telescopes and SLR cameras and watch the starts all night) or a bachelor party or a send-off party.
maybe LAN party was supposed to be organised on LAN, and that means right from invitations over the LAN to enjoying over LAN, chatting, playing games etc. But then, LAN is local network so why not everybody shut off their machines and enjoy?
BTW I am not a local American, I am an Indian stayiong in India.., and yes I am your fellow earthman!

I don't believe either one of the "Pikes" are after you. It is just a translation thing. It is a small planet and we are all earthmen. (Maybe some of the forum members are visitors from another planet.)????
