Removable heatsinks?

I don't like the bizzare heatsinks/fans that usually come with GF4 cards.Is it easy/safe to remove them and use another e.g blue orb,crystal orb etc?
Any mounting/performance issues especially with Ti4200 which I'm considering buing?

It depends on the card, some just have little pins holding the HS in place. Shouldn´t be to hard to remove, be careful though.
